Day Three

Here are some sweet photos of Harvey from tonight. Starting to realize why I don't do this everyday---I'm busy! :) Last night we didn't do pictures until he was in bed, and then tonight John took them while I went to the gym. Something about keeping up with two children all day makes me think I'm busy.

Day Two

I've never taken a photo like this before.

Sweet little Harvey all knocked out for the night. I'm so ready to be in bed just like that. Thus the short post (such a cheater, I know). 

Seven Days of Harv--Day One

Since I have become such a slacker mom, I have decided to do something a little different to help jump start my blogging. Everyday I have at least one cute/funny/bizarre story to tell about Harvey's day, yet when I sit down to blog I feel like I don't have anything to say. So this week I am going to do a post a day, complete with a picture and some story. So saddle up everybody, Harvey's taking over the internet!! 

So today we have two firsts to tell about. Today was the first Sunday we left Harvey in childcare. Now, this has nothing to with us being overprotective and weird about leaving him with people. We leave him at the gym a few times a week, and we will gladly leave him with you for a little while if you would like to offer. We were waiting for the new "school year" to start so we could get him all signed up and ready to roll. Naturally, he was wonderful. We made sure he had a bottle when he got there, so they became his instant best friends. I'm pretty sure the only reason he tolerates me is because I feed him regularly.

And another first today......drumroll............the first time he wore shoes!

Yo, what's up?!!  Yeah, I'm wearing my high tops and a diaper--what's it to you?! You're lucky my mom's holding me back!

The most pointless shoes ever. Only used to make his chubby little feet sweat---and to make me giggle.  
Quite slenderizing really. You barely even notice his cankles.

Sweet Laughter

Whoa whoa whoa!! What kind of mother am I? I haven't blogged OR taken any pictures of our little man in almost a week.  Man, Harvey is going to need to work this out in counseling someday. Poor little guy.

So Harvey has acquired another sweet skill---he laughed out loud for the first time today. There have been times over the last couple of weeks where we have wondered if he laughed or if he just made a weird noise. We've always come to the conclusion that it's just another crazy sound he learned to make.  But not today!  Today, John was playing with him before bath time and he undoubtedly laughed out loud. Such a sweet sweet sound.

He loves his daddy!

He's such a great baby. We had a rocky start, but I let him know how it's going to be (or I just started doing what he wanted, when he wanted) and now we get along so well.  Seriously, he is so incredibly easy going, happy and just glad to be around. He brings us so much joy and laughter everyday. We couldn't have asked for a better little guy!

Quick Update

We're having a crazy busy week, so that's why there have been no new blog posts. We're at home for the moment, so I thought I would just do a quick update on some new things Harvey can do.

*He has finally learned he can touch things on purpose---pretty crazy idea. Just this weekend he figured out how to swat at his hanging toys to make them move. That's way more entertaining! Now I don't have to sit and watch him lay there helplessly looking at his toys, wondering why they're all staring at him.

*He can finally suck his thumb. I know this doesn't sound like such a great achievement, but trust me, it is. For months he's tried to suck his thumb, only to be shocked and hurt when his thumb was viciously ripped out of his mouth (by his arm). Darn those involuntary movements.

*And finally, (drumroll) Harvey is eating cereal. I know, I know, you're supposed to wait until they're 4 months old. But I'm thinking once you tip the scales at over 16 pounds, you can have a little cereal. He gets a couple teaspoons of cereal at night right before his bedtime bottle. He was really ready. The first night we tried it, he didn't spit out a single drop! This kid is not playing around when it comes to moving towards solid food!

It's That Time Again

Harvey is 3 months old today! Time for yet another monthly photo shoot. From here on out, Fredbird will be joining Harvey so we can show much he is growing each month (since Fredbird can no longer grow, now that we've stuffed him).

Today we received a gift in the mail, just in time for the photo shoot! Someone sent us some super cute winter hats that are all hand crouched. And I threw in the St Louis hat one more time, for old times sake. De ja vu.

Father/Son Day

Today was my first day back at work, so John took the day off to stay home with Harvey. Apparently they had a really big day together. 

We laid Harvey on the bed after dinner, and he completely passed out on his own. 

And I'm sure there was some of this going on today as well. John and the Blackberry, taking care of business.

While I was writing this, Harvey woke up, and this was the face he was making:

This kid is ready for bed! Such a lucky boy to have a daddy who loves to spend time with him. Sad that it's such a rarity, but I'm so thankful to be blessed with such a wonderful husband! Thank you for always putting your family first.

Two Years Ago Today......

I met the love of my life, my husband, John Thomas. It's been a crazy two years, but there is no one else I would rather go through life with than him.  I love to tell stories through photos, so here we go again. A quick trip down memory lane.

Our first "official" date. We had already been out a few times, but this was the first big date John put together. We went canoeing, then John made me a very special dinner at his house. he pulled out all the stops---although he didn't even need to. I was already quite smitten.

It's amazing how drastically life can change in just 2 short years. I'm so blessed to have these two guys in my life---I don't know where I would be without them.
