Strange Reactions to the Camera

Yesterday must have been bizarre-o face day for the kids. I got my camera out and they started doing some interesting things.

Enter exhibit A: Mary Helen's new signature look.

Now here's a sweet little shot of her that I snuck in. She was almost successful in her attempt to have her mouth open in every single shot.

Exhibit B: Harvey at lunch time.

Dis wunch is scary!

Haha, ok now it's funny!

Dees noms don't taste so good. I fink I might vomit.

Yup, not good.

Kinda sour.

Mk, dees noms are asgusting.

And still kinda sour.

For serious mom, stop wif da photos. I'm twying to eat my noms here.

And I finally snuck a normal photo of him in there. Not from his lack of trying though. (Note: for lunch he had macaroni and cheese, bananas, and a few Cheerios---not lemons, sour kraut, and liver with onions like he would have you believe. Those faces baffle me).

And here are a few more lunch time photos. Not quite as bizarre, just giving you a glimpse into Harvey's daily life.

This is how they eat lunch together everyday.

These next two are funny together. I caught him red handed.
Note Harvey's calculated look, and Mary Helen is oblivious to what is about to happen.

He's got her tray and is pulling her toward him. Notice her look of shock (even though he does this ALL the time).

Their spitty little hands, romantically reaching for the same piece of macaroni.

And of course, I'm a sucker for a good "feet" photo. I just love me some baby feet. This is the only time in life when feet are sweet and cute---when they're not in use. I just love these two little camera hogs!

Let's Play a Game

Lets see if you can guess where John and I went this past weekend.

I know, it's a tough one! John's birthday was last Monday, so we planned a trip to St Louis for opening weekend as his birthday present. We headed up to Eldorado on Friday night to drop the Harv off with his Pawpaw and Mimi, and John and I headed up to St Louis early Saturday morning. I mean ear-ly. We weren't wasting any of our baby free time!

We started off with some shopping, then some sight seeing (more photos to come, don't you worry!). Then we headed to Busch Stadium for batting practice. We were able to be down on the field to watch them warm up, and we even got to go hangout in the dugout. Pretty exciting stuff! This was the day of the 20 inning game, so it was a long haul. We got there at 1:00, the game started at 3:15, and we finally left around 6:45, during the 11th inning. We went to the lobby of our hotel thinking we would see the end of the game there. Then we decided to go up to our room to get ready for dinner, and we were sure we would see the end up there. At 8:15 we figured this game was never going to end, and we should just go on to dinner. We were finishing dinner around 10:15, the game was still going on, and we had this crazy idea to try to rush back and see the end. Unfortunately, it ended as we were on our way back.

Such a wonderful weekend alone with my man in his shangri la! I must admit, I have a very special place in my heart for St Louis now as well. I do love me some Cardinals baseball (did I really have a choice? Pretty sure that was in my wedding vows somewhere), and St Louis is a fun city. I'm looking forward to many, many fun memories there in years to come.

Photos

Ah, now that I'm finished throwing my temper tantrum, here are some more photos of the boy. I couldn't leave you hanging!

Ah, nuffin quite wike chewing a puzzle piece to help me welax.

I started propping him up to make him stand. I just love these two together. This photo of them playing together melts my heart.

Looks so very natural, eh? Not like his foot is about to pop off or anything.

I'ms is standin up now, see?!

One day when we went to the park, I stuck the kids in the sandbox to see what would happen. There was a lot of this:
Ummmm, I don't fink I wike dis.

Nope, definitely don't wike dis. Dis stuff is gwoss. It's dirt.

He never let his right foot touch the sand. Or his hands. He just sat real still until I took him out. Give him a few months and he'll be partially made of dirt.

(Also, that outfit is John's from when he was a baby. Pretty sweet huh?)

He loves his daddy. That's who he was looking at when this photo was taken. So very sweet. I love my boys!
Ps--check out all of those teeth! 8 of them to be exact. I just bought him a toothbrush and toothpaste yesterday. I know, probably should have started earlier. But hey, I figure baby teeth are just going to fall out anyways. Not always worth all the hassle.

Losing My Mommy Mind

First, I would like to say I tried to upload recent photos on here last night, but my computer would not cooperate. And, I have zero patience left for basically anything. But it was all my computer's fault.

Harvey is sick, again (or still). He had croup 2 1/2 weeks ago, and he's still coughing. For the last week and a half its been worse, so I've been up from about 2:30-5:30 listening to him cough and trying to help him get back to sleep. I'm completely exhausted. Last night was the worst. I worked with him until 2am, and then I was back up at 5. That's right, I basically took a nap last night. And he won't nap---the longest he's slept has been 1 hour. That's definitely not enough for a little boy who is sick and who has stayed up all night. And let's face it, mommy seriously needs a break (whoa, look who put on her cranky pants this morning!).

John took him to the doctor this morning, just to make sure there's not anything else we can do. And there's not. Yet another infamous virus or two. The doctor seems to think he just went from one virus (the one that caused his croup) straight into another and possibly even another since his runny nose and lack of appetite just started last night. Oh, you heard me right. Stop the world, my child is refusing food! He hasn't eaten since 7:45 this morning, and that was just a few bites. That's how you know it's the real deal.

So we just have to be patient and keep listening to him hack up his lungs all day and night. I wish we could do something more for him! Oh, and more for me. Don't forget about me and how very tired I am. He's going to spend the weekend with his Mimi and Pawpaw, so I have a feeling I'll be feeling better after this weekend, and hopefully Harvey will too. Not so sure about the grandparents........ :)

And in the midst of all this, I am trying to make Harvey's birthday invitations. I thought they would be so fun to make myself and so much cuter than ones I could buy. False. Next year, I think I'll leave it to the professionals. Sleep deprivation and crafting do not in fact go hand in hand.

Easter

At last, one week later, I'm finally ready to post our Easter photos. And when I say 'our", I mean Harvey's Easter photos. John and I didn't make it into a single one-----again. We try to remember to take family photos, but somehow we always forget to remember. Isn't that how it always goes? I am going to cut myself some slack (because I'm so very gracious like that) since we did move the day before. I'm just proud we remembered to tell the Easter Bunny that we moved. Whew, that could have been tragic!

Here are some photos from Big Harv's first Easter.

He started the day by visiting with his friend that lives in the mirror.

Hi der buddy! You wook so bery nice today! You almost wook as good as I do!

Haha you're almost funny wike me too! Almost....

I just love that little booty.

At long last, the basket.

Such a sweet day with our baby boy.
