Diarrhea and Kickball

Quite an interesting day today (in case the title didn't give that away). We started the day off with a bang---Harvey totally pooped, not just his pants, but his whole body.  I had just put him in some warm, fuzzy pjs to play in. I went to make his bottle, came back to get him, and the nasty smell hit me within 5 feet of him.  So nasty. Instead of cleaning him with 1 million wipes, I just wrapped him up in a towel and put him in the tub for a good soaking. Then I got to clean the tub and do laundry---all before 7:45am. Awesome. MH has had the same problem the last couple of days, so I have done the same drill 3 days in a row. The good news is that he only did it once today and he's been eating like normal. Hopefully it was just a one time thing!

While Harvey was sleeping, I did some major purging in my closet.  I was switching my clothes out and putting up my fall clothes, and I decided if I didn't wear it last time it fit (pregnancy took me out of a lot of clothes last year), then I needed to get rid of it. I ended up with over 4 trash bags full of clothes and shoes.

So there it is in all it's glory. I LOVE getting rid of things. If you ever want to clean up your house, let me know. If I'm this unattached to my stuff, I can definitely get rid of your stuff!

Finally, we went to John's kickball game. As some of you know, we had a super classy t shirt made to help cheer on daddy. Someday this kid may really question our judgement......

What does dis shirt says? I probably shouldn't be wearin dis.........

That's what's on the back of John's shirt.

I eat da camera now!
His super sweet kicks.

Three in a Row

We have now had three nights in a row that Harvey has slept all the way through the night!! We have had some pretty bad nights over the last couple of weeks, so I'm guessing that was his grand finale.  He just really wanted to test our limits and was completely bored with us when he realized a)they're not going to give me an extra bottle and b)they're also no going to pick me up and play with me at 3am. No fun---might as well sleep I guess.

Today he had his favorite, sweet potatoes.  Now that he's walked through the valley of the shadow of peas and carrots (can you tell I hate both of those?), he knows that sweet potatoes are rockin'.  We're going to wait a little while before we introduce fruit so he'll really get used to eating veggies.  The way he slurps up his sweet potatoes confirms that this is the right decision!

The cuisine--sweet potatoes and rice cereal.

So can I has dat or what?

Ahhh I love it! You're the best cook EVER!

Gettin a little sloppy here.  You can't see it, but there's a sea of sweet potato drool puddled up in the Bumbo seat. Sometimes it's just easier to wash everything and start over.
Uh oh!  Why am I in here fors?

Oh look TV!   Already such a boy----easily distracted by the television.

Side note---he is in fact wearing a diaper in all these pictures.  I just realized his chub covers it up. :)

Baby Dedication

Today we dedicated Harvey to the Lord at church.  It was great to be able to publicly declare that we want to raise our child to know and follow Christ, and for our church body to declare that they are dedicated to helping us raise Harvey and lead him in the way he should go. Such a great day.

Eatin' It Up

I haven't had our camera with me lately, but I have been taking quite a few pictures with my Blackberry. The quality of these pictures is not the best, but you'll get the picture.

We've been doing a lot of training lately. Seriously, I kind of feel like I have a little puppy again. He's been waking up several times during the night, so we're trying to help him learn to go back to sleep on his own.  We're also working on eating. You would think a child with thighs like his would not be such a timid eater. Oh, but he is.  Here are some of our eating adventures from this week.

Ugh! You said "one more bite" free bites ago! I can't eats no more peas!

Maybe if I play like I went to sleep she'll leave me alone.....

He was making such a mess and was acting so crazy while I was feeding him this week, I decided to try something different today.

Look at this kid, all ready to eat! First, he was making such a mess on his clothes, I thought stripping him down would be a good idea.  I was thinking worst case scenario, I could just stick him and the Bumbo (since it's eternally stuck to his thighs) in the sink to rinse off.  I also took the bib away because he was so distracted by chewing on that, thus more drool, more mess everywhere.  And it was a complete success!  He ate 1/2 a jar of peas without spitting anything out---twice today!  Harvey just likes to keep it classy while dining.  "Strip me down to my diaper, please madam."

And I'm spent.

All in all, eating is going well. So far he's had carrots, sweet potatoes, and peas. He likes them all, but he strangely really likes peas.  He just doesn't know any better. :)

Here are some random shots that I've taken lately.

Awww shucks!

Nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby.
