Thanksgiving

So, were you on pins and needles just waiting for the Thanksgiving update? I thought so.

This year we had Thanksgiving at our house, and John's parents came down. This was my first crack at cooking Thanksgiving dinner, and the first time cooking a vegetarian Thanksgiving. What, you may be wondering, do vegetarians eat instead of turkey? Why, Tofurkey, of course! Enter Exhibit A.

Mmmmm, check out all that non-meaty goodness. Honestly I was a little nervous about this one, but it was really good! Overall, not so scary.

Who really likes Thanksgiving? This guy!
Don't be fooled, he's not really feeding himself. I fed him a little of everything with a spoon, and then he went to town playing with some mashed potatoes. We've started introducing more table foods lately, and he's loving it! He prefers what we're eating to his baby food most of the time (don't worry, he still eats 2-3 jars of baby food a day. Baby's not going to starve!). I'm glad that he's so open to different tastes and textures, so we're going to keep trying new things.

Ok, enough picture takin. I'm done.

Harvey: The aftermath.
I wike feedin myself. I'm real good at it!

I got my eye on you, dad (if that is in fact your name).

Once we got the kitchen and Harvey all cleaned up, we dove right into Christmas. This year we'll be in Lexington for Christmas, so we went ahead and exchanged gifts on Thanksgiving. Harvey was an awesome gift un-wrapper. I would start the paper, and he would get busy pulling to down/trying to shove it in his mouth. We have some video footage of that, but for now we have some photos.

Lemme at it!

After ALL of this, John, his mom, and I got up at 4:15am to go shopping! Heck yeah, it wouldn't be Thanksgiving without some crazy shopping action. We came home around 8, packed up and headed to Gatlinburg for the rest of the weekend. Now you see why there haven't been any blog updates for awhile.
It was beautiful weather, we had a fun indoor pool area where we stayed, and there was plenty of shopping for us all. We spent quite a bit of time out running around and in the car, so Harvey didn't get to nap too often. He was an awesome traveler! He normally sleeps 5-5 1/2 hours a day, and he was only getting 2 30 minute naps. He very rarely cried and never melted down. At his worst he would stare you down. I'm sure he'll figure out how to throw a good tantrum soon enough. Until then, I'll take this kid anywhere.

Harvey's version of fast food.

We had his picture taken with Santa, and I have quite a few more photos I would like to post. However, I just got a notice saying we've exceeded our Picassa storage, so this will have to wait until I can get John on the case. Oooooh, another cliffhanger! Man I'm such a good blogger. And very humble to boot.
