Oh The Things We Do

As you may know, Harvey has been quite a handful at times over the last couple of weeks.  We're finding that he's very "all or nothing".  He's either a sweet angel all day, or he's completely off his rocker.  Not much in between.  So the days when he's really not liking life, I'm willing to try anything to see what will make him happy (or just make him hush, whatever comes first).  We've tried the obvious: swinging, bouncing in the bouncy seat, a pacifier (4 different kinds.  He knows he can't cry with that stupid thing in, so that's out!).  All of these things work some of the time, but there are definitely times that he wants none of these things, he doesn't want to be held, and he doesn't want to be put down.

So that's when I get creative.  He HATES being swaddled, but apparently between the hours of 1 and 3 PM he loves it!  Seriously, try it any other time of day, no good.  Around 1pm, wrap him up and turn on the sound machine with the heartbeat sound, and he's out!  Here are some pictures from the first time we tried this.

Uhhhhh, ok, this feels kind of good.  But I'm not going to sleep.
Yup, not tired at all lady.

And then, complete surrender to the sound machine.  TKO!

Just the other day (before the magical 1:00 hour), he was really losing his mind, and so was I.  Desperate for anything that might work, I brought him over to the computer and found Baby Einstein on youtube.  It was a long shot, but I thought I might just see if I could turn him into a complete TV-aholic at an early age.  And it worked!  Seriously, he went from a purple faced, vein bulging, screaming fit to this:

Oh the power creepy puppets and classical music have over a young mind.  I think someone will be asking for these for Christmas..........or perhaps as a Fourth of July/Labor Day present.  Mommy may not make it 6 more months!
Here are some more calm Harvey pictures.

Clearly looking stress free in his swing.  :) Ummmmm mommy, why is that cat looking at me like that?

Showing off his double chin.
Sweetest little face!
