Happy Father's Day!!

It's a big day around our house---John's first father's day!  Harvey has been pretty excited about today since he learned what it was, 3 whole days ago.  That's a long time in baby land!  It's a day to celebrate what an amazing father John has already become.  It's been the best 6 weeks ever, and it's been the longest 6 weeks ever.  John loves spending time with Harvey, learning more about who he is, what he needs.  He's learned all about sleep deprivation, changing big nasty diapers, soothing a child that is unwilling to be soothed.  He has shown incredible patience through it all.

He is very caring, tender, and gentle with Harvey.  He can't wait to take him on many adventures and teach him all about life and this big world we live in (starting first and foremost with St Louis and the Cardinals).  He will teach Harvey to love the Lord above all else, how to love all people, that he is not more important than anyone else, how to love his wife and family and to always put them first, how to love animals and treat our planet well.  He will also teach him how to be tough, how to stand up for himself, how to play sports (starting with baseball, of course), how to work hard and be diligent, how to be assertive without being a jerk.  John is naturally a leader, a teacher who will gently guide Harvey and teach him to be an amazing man one day.  I hope and pray that Harvey will one day grow up to be just like his daddy.  Harvey is one lucky little guy to have such a devoted dad!

In honor of Father's Day, Harvey and I put together a little present for John to take to work to show off his little guy.  Harvey got so excited to give dad his present that we actually gave it to him on Thursday!  Man, Harvey must take after his mom, really excited to give gifts!  Here is our little project.

The picture is a little unclear, but it's a shadowbox with Harvey's t shirt from the hospital, his hospital bracelet, some special pictures of him and John, and the tickets from his first baseball game.  Just a little something special for dad to look at while he's at work.

This morning we took John out for brunch at O' Charley's.  Here are some fun pictures from our day.

Harvey got all dressed up for daddy this morning.

Pretty sure he was not loving the hat.  At all.  It was blocking his view of his precious ceiling fan.  Stupid hat!

Ah, there you are my beloved ceiling fan!  I was afraid I would never see you again...........

Proud daddy!
